My first Boat, 85 Nordic 22'
« on: January 31, 2012, 06:43:06 PM »

Hello,
Not sure where to put the first post so here is as good as any.  At the end of the season last year I bought this 1985 22' Nordic daycruiser out of Vegas, I live in So Cal, shook it down and fixed the major problems, and am now going to rebuild the dominator and put on a place diverter.  It has a 454 BBC.  Not seen many of this hull around, anyone that knows anything about them please drop a line and a pleasure to meet all of you.

Ya, 6 point. Once a year a friend of mine rents out Cordova Drag Strip and we all go and grudge race and try to bring home some good time slips. It's just for fun. It will do mid 10's in the quarter. 496 ci, 4 speed. It was my wifes car but when we sold my nova to buy some property the chevelle got handed over to me. I like it better than my nova anyway. It's got good street manners. not tubbed, rides like a caddilac, and pacs both front wheels at the launch. The nova was faster but give me some time and we'll see. Steve

Yeah, mine runs mid 11's, small block, iron heads, naturally aspirated.  Drives real nice still, its still a cruiser to me, I even knocked more compression out of this motor so I don't ping on pump gas in the summer.  Nitrous into the 9's one day, but I'll never cage it  ;)

We've had a couple of them redneck Chevelles. Both '71. My son had the red one and I had the silver one.

I think you'll have to cage it if you want to run 9's legally. You're already fast enouph or close to having to have a 4 pt. in it. I'm pretty sure you'll need a 10 pt. to legally run 9's. Technically, 9 sec. at around 140 mph, If something was to happen, You would want a cage if you wish to live to race again ;D Oh, Mid 11's with an iron headed small block in a 3600 lb. car is very impressive, You should be very proud.  Steve

Yeah, the cage thing always irks me, eventually I want to get another one and turn that into a race car, this one I have had since 15 and I want to keep it a pure street car, yeah, 4 point is where I should be right now and I am proud of two things with its time slips, they are on pump gas and I drive it 60 miles to the track and back, no trailer.  Although efi and overdrive would make that a much more enjoyable experience  ???

I hear ya, I want to swap out my old borg warner super T10 for a richman 5 or 6 speed. An overdrive would be the s***s. Ever sense I got this boat I hav'nt done much with my car other than drive it, Hopefully soon I can get the tranny I want. Some new wheels and A/C or on my wish list too. I've always been a car nut pretty much sense I was young and I've only had a boat for about 4 yrs. now. I really love my old boat and enjoy boating alot. It gives me an opportunity to vent my inner gearheadness and helps keep me out of trouble on the street. Then came this forum and I've got to know all these Cool Cats that love jets too. Many of them have forgotten more about boats than I know about boats and I've learned alot on this forum. Hopefully I'll get to meet them all someday.  Steve
